African Literacy Project (ALP) is committed to improving learning experiences in public schools by supporting initiatives that contribute to holistic student development. While academic learning remains central, co-curricular activities play a vital role in shaping well-rounded students.
In line with this commitment, ALP supported Edokpolor Grammar School through the provision of a drum set to enhance student engagement, improve school assemblies, and strengthen co-curricular development.
School assemblies and co-curricular activities serve as important platforms for building discipline, teamwork, creativity, and confidence among students. During ALP’s engagement with Edokpolor Grammar School, the need for a functional drum set was identified as a priority to improve assembly coordination and support the development of a school band.
This informed the decision to provide musical instruments to enhance student participation and overall school experience.

The drum set was donated by the Program Officer, Lucy Isibor, alongside ALP volunteer Miracle Azegbea.
On Wednesday, 13th May 2026, representatives of African Literacy Project (ALP) visited Edokpolor Grammar School for the official donation and handover of the drum set.
The drum set was formally received by the school management, including the Executive Principal (Mrs. Amusa-Yamah Magdalene) and the Vice Principal (Mrs. Esther Ighile) along with other members of staff.
The drums were immediately put into use during the school assembly, where selected students actively performed and demonstrated the use of the instruments, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere.

Beyond the selected drummers, the general student body was actively engaged during the assembly. Students responded to instructions, participated in singing, and maintained attentiveness throughout the assembly. The presence of the drum set added energy to the assembly routine, making it more engaging and enjoyable for all students present.
This collective participation reflected the immediate positive impact of the intervention on student engagement and school spirit.
